Honda Civic Overview

The news of the launch of the new Honda Civic has been doing rounds ever since the premium sedan was discontinued in 2013. The Civic that was introduced in India back in 2006 was an eighth generation car and the new Civic expected in India tenth generation car, globally. And we can say that because the new Civic has been spotted around Honda’s Tapukara plant in Rajasthan.



The Civic, in case it comes to India, will compete against the Hyundai Elantra, the Skoda Octavia, The Toyota Corolla Altis and the Chevrolet Cruze.

This is an entirely new platform and the looks have been design to fit in the new Honda design language. It looks like a baby Accord unlike the distinct styling of the previous generation cars. The signature thick chrome slat in the front with the modern LED headlamps and LED DRLs look futuristic. Unlike the typical sedan profile of the earlier Civic, the new one has a notchback-like lines with a high boot lid and a sloping roof. The tail design is striking with the boomerang shaped tail lamps, twin exhausts and multiple creases. The 17 inch alloys look striking as well.


Inside, you have the typical Honda interior, similar to the ones we have seen in the BR-V and the City. The all-black interior looks premium with the brushed aluminium highlights but the India car might get a black and beige combination instead. It gets a 7 inch capacitive touchscreen infotainment system and automatic climate control. The instrument console has a large tachometer at the centr with e digital speedometer and a multifunction display nested in it. The other dials are the fuel and temperature gauges. It gets armrests for both the rows with height adjustable driving seats and electrically operated wing mirrors.

The tenth-generation Civic gets a 1.5-litre turbocharged petrol engine and naturally aspirated 1.8-litre and 2.0-litre engines. While the India Civic has had the 1.8-litre mill, we might see the debut of the 170bhp turbo-petrol. The Civic has the engines mated to a six-speed manual and the CVT automatic gearboxes. It is said that the India car might also see a diesel engine being offered with the Civic, but the 100bhp setup would certainly be too underpowered for a car of this size.

Sedangkan untuk dimensinya memiliki ukuran panjang 3.429 mm, lebar 1.560 mm, dan ketinggian 1.541 mm. Yang menarik dari mobil ini adalah memiliki groud clearance sanga tinggi, yakni mecnapai 185 mm.

Dengan ground clearance lebih tinggi dibandingkan mobil sekelasnya, sangat pantas apabila mobil Datsun Redi-Go disebut sebagai Crossover termurah dengan kualitas terbaik saat ini. Selain itu, mobil ini juga memiliki wheelbase berukuran 2.348 mm dan didalamnya sudah ada dua baris kursi yang mampu memuat 5 orang penumpang. Walaupun dimensinya cukup kecil, namun mobil ini menawarkan ruang kabin yang luas, dan didalamnya sudah ada berbagai fitur modern yang disesuaikan dengan tipenya.

Dari kelima tipe yang disediakan, tipe yang tertinggi adalah Datsun Redi-Go S. Kelimanya sama-sama dibekali mesin 0.8 Liter dengan teknologi i-Sat yang diklaim membuat mesin lebih irit bahan bakar. Selain itu, tersedia pula sistem transmisi manual 5 Percepatan yang siap mengoptimalkan laju kendaraan. Sayangnya tidak tersedia varian CVT atau matik, agar harga mobil Datsun Redi-Go bisa dibanderol lebih terjangkau. Sedangkan untuk tenaga maksimal yang mampu diraih mesin 800cc tersebut mencapai 54 Horspower, dan torsi puncaknya mencapai 72 Nm.

NEW 2015 Honda S660 Roadster Launches

NEW HONDA S660 - Honda’s tiny new S660 sports car has made its market debut in Japan this week, following its first appearance as a concept at the 2011 Tokyo Motor Show.

Reviving the spirit of the popular Beat roadster of the 90s and the legendary S600 of the 60s, the new S660 debuts as just the latest offering in Japan’s compact ‘Kei’ category.

Just 3395mm long, 1457mm wide and 1180mm tall, the S660 rides on a 2285mm wheelbase.

Short overhangs mean that while the S660 is a significant 520mm shorter overall than the new Mazda MX-5, its wheelbase is only 30mm shorter.

As is required by Japan’s ‘kei jidōsha’ (light automobile) regulations, the S660 is driven by a 660cc turbocharged engine, mounted mid-ship, producing just 47kW and 104Nm of torque.

The engine is shared with other Honda-badged kei cars, but the 830kg two-seat S660 boasts a whole new platform designed specifically to help the new roadster live up to its sporting looks.

Honda says that around 67 percent of the S660’s body is made from lightweight high-tensile steel, promising greater stiffness than its regular kei cars and a roughly 100kg lower kerb weight than the N-Box hatch.

The S660 boasts a 45:55 weight front-rear weight distribution, and power is sent to the rear wheels through either a six-speed manual or CVT auto transmission.

Performance and fuel numbers are yet to be revealed.

Small it may be, but the little roadster is not short on safety tech. It comes with Vehicle Stability Assist, City-Brake Active System, reinforced front and centre rollover pillars and front/side airbags all packed in as standard.

The S660 goes on sale in Japan from April, priced locally from 1.98 million yen - around $21,480 in Australian dollars.

The new roadster isn’t expected to get a global debut in its launch form, although it is understood that a more powerful 1.0 litre ‘S1000’ model formed part of its development plan, opening the door to a wider western launch.

That model, reportedly capable of between 75 and 95kW, would make for a fair rival to Mazda’s MX-5.

As an affordable and irrepressibly cheerful mid-engined sporty convertible, the S660 could be just what Honda needs to get to restore some of its long-lost mojo.

New Honda Jazz 2015

New Honda Jazz release date won't be until 2015 in the UK, but it gets a fresh design and better efficiency 

The new Honda Jazz, known as the Honda Fit in other markets, is to be launched in 2015, according to the Japanese firm. 

We've already driven a prototype of the Honda Jazz Hybrid (badged as a Fit), and our photographs show how it will look - although we do expect the UK model to be tuned more specifically for UK roads, and the styling may be revised as well. It's possible that the Jazz will be built in the UK too, as the current model is produced at Honda's Swindon plant. 

The company has also claimed that the new model will offer 65mm more legroom than before - suggesting a longer wheel base - and promises that the cabin has been redesigned with higher quality materials and trims. '

The first pictures of the Honda Jazz we saw were leaked online after photos from a Japanese brochure were uploaded to an Indian website - click on the gallery above to see them. Interior shots of a 'power/charge' meter confirmed the continuation of a Honda Jazz hybrid, and the new styling showed a clear link between the Jazz and the larger Civic. 

Honda Jazz: good reputation 
The new car has a lot to live up to, following the success of the first and second generation of the Jazz, with respondents to our 2013 Driver Power Survey praising the car’s reliability above all else. 

Inside, the Jazz will maintain its reputation for offering excellent amounts of space. The first and second generation models finished in the top 10 for practicality in our Driver Power survey, so expect the Jazz to feature a boot with around 400-litre capacity, and Magic Seats which fold flat at the touch of a button.

The new Jazz will use a new, scaleable platform that will also underpin the production version of the Honda Urban SUV concept, due to rival the Nissan Juke when it goes on sale here in mid-2014. The new platform should allow Honda to give the car more sporty handling, but still remain comfortable on longer drives. 

New Honda Jazz engines 
The engine range is expected to be largely similar, with efficient 1.2-litre and 1.4-litre petrols, plus an upgraded version of the Jazz Hybrid. 

Honda hasn’t offered a diesel Jazz in its line-up before, but it could offer the firm’s new 1.6-litre diesel that launched in the Civic at the Geneva Motor Show 2013. That engine develops 300Nm of torque, and emits only 119g/km of CO2. 

A price for the new Honda Jazz has yet to be revealed, but we would expect it to start from around £14,000 and the hybrid version to cost from around £17,000.

New 2015 Toyota Yaris

The Yaris is the Toyota brand's smallest and least expensive U.S. offering. In its current generation, the Yaris is offered in two hatchback configurations, with either three doors or five. A four-door Yaris sedan was offered previously, but it was phased out after one year of simultaneous sales with the newer hatchback models. Toyota also offered a two-door version of the Yaris's predecessor, the Echo.

In the expanding market of subcompact cars--what we used to call "economy cars"--the Yaris faces off against an all-new 2015 Honda Fit, as well as the hatchback models of the Chevrolet Sonic, Ford Fiesta, Hyundai Accent, Kia Rio, Mazda 2, and the Nissan Versa model known as the Note. Few of them offer the simpler three-door body style, which is less expensive but also somewhat less practical--even if it's only ever driven by a single person who may want to toss her backpack into the rear seat via a rear door.

In Toyota showrooms, the Yaris also competes with the Toyota Prius C, which offers an entirely different five-door subcompact design and the famous Prius 50-mpg gas-mileage rating. But the Yaris is several thousand dollars less expensive than the Prius C, meaning that drivers who cover relatively few miles each year will come out ahead with the Yaris.

The Yaris remains one of the lightest vehicles in this class, at around 2,300 pounds, yet in an extended drive we found its performance to be underwhelming--although sporty SE models get a stiffer suspension for a more responsive feel (plus four-wheel discs). Engine noise remains an issue at highway cruising speeds, and we've found the current Yaris to be fuel-efficient in the city but no standout for mileage on the highway. The new Yaris is strong on safety, with nine standard airbags, but lacking options like heated seats and touch-screen navigation. Bluetooth hands-free features are delightfully simple, though, and USB ports and aux plugs are standard for all.

With all-new styling, the current Toyota Yaris Liftback goes in a somewhat sporty but also somewhat more ubiquitous direction, losing some of the Euro-chic charm of the previous hatchback but gaining a few inches of length, for better cargo capacity especially. Engines and transmissions essentially carry over unchanged from the previous generation, but interior design and ergonomics are quite different, with gauges moved back directly in front of the driver and seats getting more generous bolstering.

For 2013, Toyota made the former Tech Audio Package (Bluetooth, USB, iPod connectivity, HD Radio, satellite radio compatibility, and six speakers) standard on all models.

The Yaris received a mid-cycle refresh for the 2015 model year, with even more aggressive styling. Changes included more soft-touch materials inside, a retuned suspension, and some added feature content. The sporty SE model returns, available only on the five-door body style.

A new Yaris is expected in a few years. It will be built in Mexico and will also form the basis for the next Mazda 2 subcompact.

Toyota Yaris History
The first-generation Yaris, sold in the U.S. from 2006 through 2011, supplanted the homely Echo in Toyota's lineup and was lauded—especially in hatchback form—for a more stylish, urban-chic appearance. Initially, the Yaris was offered either as a three-door hatchback or a four-door sedan, and it had two different sets of design details inside and out depending on which one. While the hatchback had more overtly styled instrument panel, with a thin center stack and central speedometer, the sedan came with a more conventional look. Likewise, the Yaris hatchback got different front-end details that made it look cuter, in the opinion of many, whereas the sedan's front end and proportions were closely cropped from the Camry and Corolla.

Both models came with the same engine—a 106-horsepower, 1.5-liter four-cylinder engine, paired with a five-speed manual or four-speed automatic transmission. In either version, this worked out to be plenty to move the lightweight Yaris quickly—though the automatic version was a little sluggish with a full load. The Yaris is sprightly and maneuverable around town—and capable of fitting into some of the tightest parking spaces—with light, responsive steering and compact dimensions, but its soft suspension calibration means that it won't feel sporty on a country road. Ride quality is soft and absorbent, with a bounciness that comes out on some road surfaces.

While the interior of the 2006-2011 Yaris is stylish, it makes clear concessions to cost in the materials and trims that are used. There are hard, scratch-prone plastics throughout, and upholstery feels bargain-basement. Sedans are more than a foot longer than hatchbacks; they don't have that much more legroom, but getting in is a lot easier, and they do have a surprisingly roomy trunk. For 2009, Toyota introduced a five-door hatchback body style, which some might find the best compromise between the hatchback's stylish appearance and the sedan's practicality.

Equipment on base-model Yaris hatchbacks is basic. Air conditioning and keyless entry are included in all models, but nearly all other commonly included features—like power windows—are optional and cruise control is only offered on top models. Safety hasn't been a strong point for the Yaris, with crash-test scores unimpressive and many cars leaving the factory without anti-lock brakes. ABS are now standard as well as electronic stability control for 2010.

The Yaris is closely related to the Scion xA and somewhat related to the Scion xD; the xD in particular has more appealing interior materials, as well as a stronger 1.8-liter engine from the Corolla, but it burns more fuel as a result. The Yaris has proven to be one of the most reliable vehicles on Consumer Reports' annual survey, has good resale value, and has been rated as being among the cheapest to own, considering aspects like insurance, maintenance, and depreciation.

The subcompact Toyota Yaris is the smallest car sold by the big Japanese brand in the U.S. In 2006, it replaced the homely Echo model, and an entirely redesigned Yaris arrived for 2012. The first generation was offered as a sedan or hatchback; the latest generation has three- and five-door hatchbacks only. The Yaris is sprightly around town, but interior materials show that it’s an economy car—and first-generation hatchbacks had an awkward central speedometer.
